Trump Calls President Buhari A ”Lifeless” Person After April Meeting – Financial Times, the world’s leading global business publication, released a news article where they claim that US president, Donald Trump told his aides that the Nigerian president was so ”lifeless”, after his meeting with President Buhari on April 30th, and that he doesn’t want to meet with such a person again.
In an article titled “Africa looks for something new out of Trump as Kenya president visits the White House”, Financial Times quoted Trump and said that;
“The first meeting, with Nigeria’s ailing 75-year-old Muhammadu Buhari in April, ended with the US president telling aides he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again, according to three people familiar with the matter,”
President Buhari is known to be the first president from Sub-Saharan Africa to have a meeting with the US president.
Today August 27th, the Kenyan president will meet with President Trump to have bilateral discussions.
But during the joint-press conference after the meeting in April, President Trump had praised President Buhari saying that:
“Nigeria has a reputation for very massive corruption. I also know that the President has been able to cut that down very substantially. We talked about that, he is working on it and they have made a lot of progress and I think they will continue to make a lot of progress,”
The Presidency is yet to address this issue.
