Nigerian Twitter users are responding to tweets shared by African Giant, Burna Boy, in which he expressed that he is the best since Fela Kuti, and that nobody cleared a path for him.
The singer who missed out in winning an honor at the 2020 Grammys, had prior tweeted this:
“FACT! I always knew I was and I am THE BEST. Everyone you think is the best KNOWS I’m BEST since Fela Kuti. But @timayatimaya told me something a long time ago that made me not care about being the best. “The World can do without the Best” the world will still spin regardless.”
A Twitter user who felt this was a disrespect to his seniors in the music business, asked where he was when afrobeat was “creeping” between 2010-2018.
Accordingly, African Giant said that no one prepared for him.
He included that Nigerian artists were asking and paying the western world for their melodies to be heard before he presented to Africans the regard they currently have.
