SoulTrain Award: Starboy, Wizkid wins songwriting award for ‘Brown Skin Girl’


Nigerian singer, Wizkid has won SoulTrain’s Ashford and Simpson Songwriters’ honor.

Newsmen report that he won the award at the 2019 function hung on Sunday in Las Vegas.

The vocalist earned the honor for his cooperation with Beyonce, Blue Ivy Carter and SaiNt Jhn on the hair-raising tune of Beyonce’s ‘Lion Heart: The Gift’ collection.

Wizkid shares the honor with other credited lyricists including, Beyoncé Knowles, Carlos St. John, Adio Marchant, and Shawn Carter.

Others are Stacy BartheAnathi Mnyango, Michael Uzowuru, Starboy, and Richard Isong.

Newsmen report this was the 3rd time Starboy had made the list for the renowned award.

He was designated for Best Dance Performance in 2017 for his tune featuring Drake tagged ‘Come Closer’ and in 2016 for the Rhythm and Bars class for his melody ‘One Dance.’
